About David

David is a woodworker who specializes in minimalist, elegant, timeless custom furniture. The path towards his mastery was part his heritage and part determination. Resolved to improve on his family’s trade, he pursued various options. Although he was accepted into the prestigious Windell Castle School of Design, he decided to test the waters with some of his pieces at the Fairhope Art festival in 1992. Not only did he sell everything he entered, he received Best of Show. Afterwards, inspired by his experience, he took a chair making class at Highland Hardware in Atlanta that Sam Maloof was teaching. After the class, he was invited to come to Sam’s shop in Alta Loma to work alongside him. David continued on this path participating in many art shows nationwide. To date he has achieved twenty five Best of Show awards, eleven 1st Place awards, seven 2nd place awards and many other awards culminating in being invited twice to the Festival of the Masters. Over a period of 30 years and after making over 1600 pieces of furniture, David decided to retire to pursue other ventures. In 2006 he moved his family to the PNW and with partners opened one of the most sought after woodworking shops in the PNW with residential and commercial projects on both the east and west coast. His love of woodworking transitioned well into custom cabinetry and furnishings while still placing items in various galleries including New York, Los Angeles, and Seattle. The lure and love of creating studio furniture has inspired David to reopen his workshop. He is currently accepting custom commissions and offering limited production runs of some of his classic designs as well as expanding his portfolio into the world of Art Deco. He currently resides on a farm in Kingston Washington with his girlfriend, two toddler dogs and 9 unruly chickens.
